Turn Your House Into a Club in 10 Minutes! 100% Guarantee!

Do YOU want to be a Dude?!

Do YOU have what it takes to be Cool?!

Do YOU Want to be the King/ Queen of Clubs?!

Are YOU ready to make your house into a DanceFloor?!

You Will Need:
  • Music Player
  • Speakers, Space.

Story First: The Best Friend, her good friends and I had gone to one of those places where they have a restaurant and a dance floor together (Lounge, do they call it?) and mainly we'd gone there just to dance. To be honest, the DJ was very mediocre. He played Sheila, Munni, Chikni Chameli and Jalebi Bai so many times I thought I probably was in one of the places that were banned by the Government in early 2000. A few days ago the Best Friend had said, "You know Kari, we should be DJs" and I said to myself, "Why Not?" She's right. We have more fun dancing at our humble Sleepovers.

Presenting, our favorite club hits that will turn your bedroom, living room, kitchen, terrace, rooftop, tabletop (wherever you can manage to turn the music up and dance) into a superb club!

Leave the mouth of your friends' hanging and be the DUDE of the party! Learn the lyrics and they shall worship you ;)

Monday, January 9

I love it, I hate it.

This is about my relationship with a vehicle. One that I lovingly call my own but does not belong to me. It's tracks are as dense as the diverse population in Mumbai and birds-eye view of it makes resembles out body's Nervous System.

Between 8:00 to 9:30 am as I stand on a platform, waiting for a Churchgate fast, I pray to God. I know how it feels for athletes who participate in various competition when the gun fires and they have to start their sport. Infact ever regular Mumbaikar knows that feeling. We go through that twice a day when we board a train. So many things in one short minute:

  • Impatience when the announcer says, "The train arriving on platform no. 2 is a fast local to Churchgate..."
  • Hope when your probably standing in the second line and you have chances of getting a place to stand
  • Persistence when the train stops and you struggle to hold the rod and climb
  • Victory when you finally find place to plant your two feet
  • Patience when you couldn't get in and you wait for the next train to come
  • Focus when you miss 3 trains in a row and you don't give up. You wait for the next one and give this one your best ability to climb

When 26/7 floods and 26/11 attacks happened, everyone asked "How are you Mumbaikars so composed about it? How do you return to your lives so fast" I've been thinking about this and I've come to the conclusion that we are born strong and travelling in Locals condition us. You must think I'm a lunatic but think about the feelings I mentioned just above: Hope, Persistence, Patience, Victory, Focus isn't that what you need to move on in life?

Travelling everyday since the past 3 years and spending 2 hours in the train, I've learnt so much. Mumbai

  • Locals teach us to 'hang on' incase you were the last one to get in and you're standing on the edge,
  • That it's okay to lean on people and ask for help when you feel like you're falling
  • If you miss a train, it's okay. There is one more behind this one and will take you where you want to go. You only have to wait a few minutes.
  • Sometimes people will push you and call you names but you have to only increase the volume in your headphones and wait till your stop comes. Probably they will get down at Andheri or will leave you alone when they see you're not interested.

When there was this show, 'Ladies Special' on Sony. I was excited to watch it but it was such a downer, I stopped watching it after the 3rd episode.

As for me, Western Railway and I share a love-hate relationship. When I'm late to college, there's always a Andheri Slow (My college is at Bandra, that's 3 stations away), trains are immensely crowded or the trains run at Snail's Pace. I love it when the trains are empty, it's going really fast and I'm hanging near the door as the cool breeze is brushing my hair. I feel like in a Music Video and oh, I love the people. They think I'm a crazy chick and leave me alone.

Mumbai Locals are what make Mumbai what it is. If your ready to listen, it has lessons and stories to tell too. Will you give it a chance?

Till I see you next time,

Resolution 2012!

This is pretty much how I am right now :P I read my Jan 1, 2011 blogpost and the last words read "I am confused" which was the exact thing I felt today, confused.

/blur

What do I make of it? It's been a year and I've learnt so much and I've changed, blah blah blah. Conclusion? I am still confused. This is where I am supposed to say "What the hell!' and I'm supposed to be mad at myself  but I'm not mad. Only disappointed that emotionally I'm where I was last year. Confusion is hardly a feeling but then it's still something I need to wipe off my path to Actualization.

Anyway, I've never made my resolutions public. One reason I never got them crossed off my list? Perhaps. So here they are!

KARIMA'S TO DO LIST FOR 2012:

1) Finish all my stories but mainly focus on 2: Project 2010 and Project 2011

2) Rock Climb

3) Offer all 5 prayers everyday

4) Read Qur'an at least 3 times a week.

5) Learn a new song every month

6) Finish reading all Novels I started reading in 2011

7) Go for a run or some kind of workout everyday /sweat be like this :D

9) Blog more. This is a very sexy way of practicing the art of writing.

10) Maintain a diary:

In case I die in the 2012 Apocalypse , I'd like people to know all that I kept in my heart. The only good thing from this will be the love of my life will finally know! /blush and then even if he says no, /wahaha I'm already dead

11) Have a BMI of 20.2 and body fat percentage of 18%

12) Cook all that I want to eat.

Seriously. Google is a friggin' Cookbook!

13) Don't care much. /dignose

* * *

I will make a new post and cross out the list as I go on. I'd love to cross of number 11 and there will be a big celebratory rant about it! Diet Cokes to everyone who reads those :P

Till I cross out,
Karima /bye

Saturday, December 31

Bye, Bitch.

I made a post on Jan 1, 2011. So I will make one today, Dec 31, 2011 and I will make one tomorrow, also (no prizes for guessing :P)

Nothing has significantly changed in this past year. I learned a lot of lessons and the best one I learnt was filtering. The good from the bad, the keeper from the garbage and the musk from the fake. The process was hurtful but I've gained a lot from it and I am sure, so have you.

2011 was also full of experiences :P Some make you sick, some get you sick :P Ha, I'm going to forget this probably, but I am chuckling as I write this now (Dates to be Noted: Gandhi Jayanti & December 28 lol! )

If anything, I don't feel grown up. I don't feel like I am 20. I feel like I've missed being 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 and in last quarter of the year, I've tried to catch up with the 5 years I missed trying to be mature and 'grown up', 'do the right things', 'take the decided step' and other blahs that keep you jailed. I shouldn't have, really. Like my good friend once yelled in my ears, "KARIIMMAAAA!!! Your young only once!!" I throw this in everyone's face who try to make me act like a woman. Coloring my hair red, going on roller coasters, getting over my fears and the 'It won't kill me' attitude has paid. I am free person and I feel 'freedom' in my heart. It's the best I've felt to date.

When you let go of yourself, you will grow. You just simply have to trust me when I say this. What you think you are right now is going to change. You won't even remember what kind of a person you are now same time next year. Rather, if you let yourself loose, unleash your inner self and speak your mind - you will be a threat to the people who judged you & tried to overshadow you. Be true to you. That's the first step to being fabulous.

Now why I am ranting this poop? Because this is how I will summarize 2011, finding myself. Knowing who is me and I am sure of one thing, I am a lot less clueless I am now than I was last year. #WIN!

All I truly hope for 2012 is that I find courage. Courage to confess hate, friendship, confessions, crush, likeness, love. Courage to not care, hold myself together and still have a high head. Figuring out a way right now, maybe I will stumble across one? Who knows?

And my wish for you, reader? May you happy a superb year and may you survive 2012 :)

HAPPY 2012! See you tomorrow with more hidden rantings from my walnut-like salty brain.

I Love You, ............... (ugh, why is it so hard?)

Ciao, /bye

Poem: If You Could See Me Now

I intended this poem to be a song, originally but while I tried playing it and added music to it- I broke down always. Then it was Eid some days ago. As a kid, I always opened the door when my father came in from Namaz and then followed our tradition of oil & rice. I still open the door but then it's never for my father. It's been so long since I saw my mom take a plate of rice and place a bowl of oil right in the center.

People feel empty about friends and boyfriends leaving them. That stupid song Emptiness has no sense to it even.  Anyway, so I made the song into a poem because no way I can sing it!

I see in the mirror,
A striking image of your face
How my eyes,
Resemble your strength.

They look at me and say how much I remind them of you,
And they praise me when they see how much I’ve grown without you.
I laugh with them & with them I cry,
But I don’t let them see the part that I hide,
The part that longs for you,
The one that wishes- whatever’s happened is just not true.

** Oh Daddy, I wish you could see me now,
Into the person that I’ve become
Into the child that you’ve left behind
Oh daddy, if you could be with me now,
We would tour the world & I’d show you what I’ve done
You’d be proud of me & then we’d have partied.

For all the times I fought with you,
For all the times I didn’t listen,
To all the times I missed to say I love you,
To all the times I didn’t care.
I just want to say- Daddy, I’m sorry.

**Oh daddy, I wish you could see me now,
How I’m broken, how I’m crushed;
But still together
Oh daddy, if you could be with me now,
I’d feel more like myself
To say to the least
I’d feel like somebody’s baby girl again.

I see in the mirror,
A striking image of your face,
And then I say,
It’s all of you that I have left.

Until Next time,
